Our Fabrics
Handcrafted in Brazil our swim fabric is knitted with elastane and microfiber biodegradable nylon. Amni Soul Eco® is the world's first biodegradable polyamide, which has been developed and manufactured in Brazil using reclaimed water and is free of toxic chemicals. Our fabric suppliers are located in the same area as our atelier, minimizing the environmental impact of transportation.
This revolutionary biodegradable polyamide yarn is created with a special formulation that accelerates biodegradation in an oxygen-free environment, common in most landfills. Traditionally, a polyamide fibre takes decades to disintegrate. In tests, this yarn biodegraded by 50% in just over one year, by the end of its life, the impact on landfills will be reduced. Being a “smart yarn” the biodegradation of Amni Soul Eco® will only start when the fabric is in these conditions ie after disposal, in a landfill environment.
While our swimwear is being worn and washed, any microplastics that are released from the yarn are able to decompose 20x faster in a marine environment compared to other synthetic fibres.
This innovative, eco-friendly fabric yarn is eliminated from the planet in about 5 years, as opposed to decades.
